GI MAP

A deep insight into your digestive system.

GI MAP

GI MAP is ideal for those who want a deep dive into your digestive system.

GI MAP uses PCR technology and is therefore sensitive and reveals areas that other standard tests do not answer. It is no secret that a large part of our immune system is located in the gastrointestinal system, which is why it can be relevant to look at and gain insight into a wide range of issues. It is estimated that up to 80% of your immune system is located in your gastrointestinal system depending on how this is viewed, but one thing is certain: your health and your digestive system are closely related.

GI MAP is of course ideal for gastrointestinal problems of various kinds, but it can also be relevant for other health issues. Various problems in your body such as fatigue, muscle pain, skin problems and more can be rooted in digestive problems.

    Parasites, opportunistic bacteria and worms

Parasites and unwanted bacteria that can trigger your immune system are something that GI MAP provides very good insight into. From the more obvious ones like salmonella and E.Coli to the more controversial ones like the Blastocystis Hominis strains.

The former is a reaction that almost everyone responds to, whereas the latter seems to only cause problems in a few individuals. Therefore, far from everyone is being investigated in the established system, despite the fact that Blastocystis Homminis is known to cause problems for some people.

GI MAP also looks for unwanted worms in your gastrointestinal system.

The intestinal flora and beneficial bacteria

GI MAP also looks into your gut flora and sees how diverse your system is. This appears to be crucial for good health. An imbalance in your gut flora, also known as dysbiosis, can have consequences for your health.

With GI MAP, we gain insight into whether you are lacking beneficial intestinal bacteria or whether you have too much of some of the bacteria (too much of something good can also cause problems).

    Fungi

You have probably heard that our intestinal system can be infected with fungus and this is also screened for by GI MAP. Among other things, it examines whether there is an overgrowth of the famous candida fungus, but it also tests for other types of fungi. This is relevant, as these fungi can cause skin problems, fungus in the lower abdomen and elsewhere on the body.

    Inflammation and health

GI MAP is perfect for providing a snapshot of your gastrointestinal system and how much damage and inflammation there is in it. The test screens for how robust your system is and how much damage there is. The test can provide indications of more serious intestinal diseases such as Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn’s Disease also known as IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) or whether it is instead a condition such as IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). This is viewed through various immune markers such as; Calprotectin, SIgA levels, EPx, Zonulin just to name a few.

The above information is just to name a few of the markers tested for in connection with a GI MAP test, as the test also contains other information that can be useful for achieving a healthy gastrointestinal system.

However, it is important that one of our professional therapists in the field assess whether this test is the most relevant for you. It is crucial that the individual is taken into account and all the factors that can affect the individual are taken into consideration.
